Klook Airport Transfers: The Proven Ticket To Easy Travel
Airports are a necessary part of travel. If you are anything like me, you want to get out of there as quickly after landing as possible. One of the best ways to ensure a seamless arrival experience is to pre-book your airport transfers. I have been using Klook airport transfers for almost a decade now and they have never let me down. Klook airport transfers are simple, affordable and convenient.
About Klook
Klook, short for ‘keep looking’, was founded in May 2014 by Eric Gnock Fah, Ethan Lin and Bernie Xiong. The mission was simple; bring the world closer together through exceptional experiences. A decade on, Klook now has over 530,000 products in over 1,700 destinations and employs over 1000 staff in 20 locations. In 2023 Klook surpassed US$3b in sales, triple their 2019 results. Klook’s website gets a whopping 30 million visits a month! It’s no wonder Klook has firmly cemented themselves as the go-to site for many frequent travellers. While Klook was formed to assist travellers to book experiences such as tours, tickets and the like, it is their super simple airport transfers that I find myself using the most. In fact I have used Klook airport transfers for every trip since 2015!
Benefits Of Booking With Klook
Why do I love Klook? Here are my top 5 reasons:-
1. Pay In Advance – I don’t bother with getting local currency before I travel. I just hit the ATM up on arrival. ATM’s generally offer the best exchange rates and are just easy. Not having any local currency can make getting from the airport to your accommodation a hassle, but Klook solves the issue. Simply hand over you voucher and be on your way. Easy
2. Pay in Local Currency – Overseas transaction fees on credit cards are annoying. While I do have a number of cards that are fee free they don’t come with the perks and points. My preferred card (Amex to earn Velocity points) charges overseas transaction fees on every purchase not in Australian dollars. And it can add up fast. Setting my Klook currency to AUD avoids that and I still get to earn points from my Amex purchases. Yay!
3. Klook Credits – Every transaction with Klook earns Klook credits which can be redeemed on future bookings. Who doesn’t like an extra bonus right? Be aware that credits are assigned when the voucher is used not at the time of booking. You get extra credits for leaving a review so don’t forget that step. Every little bit counts! Klook credits never expire as long as you complete one transaction every twelve months.
4. Customer Service – Klook customer support is outstanding. I have used Klook customer support twice. Both times my flight was cancelled and I made last minute changes. I can’t fault them and that is exactly what you need in a crisis.
5. Convenience – I tend to pre-book a lot of activities and using Klook allows me to keep track of all my bookings in one place. They offer so many experiences it’s also a good way to research exactly what is available in your destination.
Booking Klook Airport Transfers
Booking Klook airport transfers couldn’t be simpler. Have all your flight details handy, head to Klook’s homepage and log in. If you don’t already have a Klook account set one up first. Select your preferred currency from the top menu bar.
Pro Tip: If your credit card charges overseas transactions fees (as many do!), set the currency to the currency of your card regardless of the currency used in your destination. No one wants to pay more fees than they have to!
From the top menu bar select ‘Transport’ and then ‘Private Airport Transfers’.
Select from ‘Airport Pick Up’ or ‘Airport Drop Off’. Select the time, date and number of passengers. Enter your ‘From’ and ‘To’ details. Click ‘Search Private Transfers’,
Klook will provide a selection of options. Prices typically are very similar so I tend to choose the option with the best reviews. Once you have chosen, click ‘Book Now’.
Enter your flight number and click ‘Find Flight’.
Enter your details and check the inclusions and the cancellation policy. You can change the currency at this point (as I did from USD to AUD) if needed. Once you have made your booking you cannot edit any of the details so if you make a mistake or your circumstances change you will need to cancel and re-book. I have done this many times, usually when I have changed my accommodation because I have seen a better or cheaper deal. Klook’s cancellation policy is usually very generous. In the example below you can cancel with no penalty prior to 24 hours. Refunds are typically swift and are back in your account within a few days.
Don’t forget the discounts! Tick the box to apply any Klook credits (see above) if you have them. If you have a promo code click the ‘Use Promo Code’ to apply it.
Pro Tip: WhatsApp is often the preferred method of communicating with your driver, If you don’t have an account set one up now. It’s free and is usually the same details as your local cell/mobile.
If you have saved your credit card details (so handy!) just choose the card you wish to pay with from the list and complete your booking.
Once you have booked all your Klook vouchers are available under ‘Bookings’ where you can view, download and print all the details. While information varies from provider to provider, most give detailed instructions (including maps) of exactly where to meet your driver. Booking really couldn’t be easier and it takes less than 5 minutes.
Klook Airport Transfers Experience
As I mentioned, I have been using Klook airport transfers for almost a decade. I’ve lost count of how many I have booked. The ones that go without a hitch are rarely memorable and there are many of those. One particular experience really stands out though.
In 2023 Robin & I travelled to Vietnam, just the two of us. We hadn’t seen each other in person since 2019 and we were super excited to be reunited. I booked our Klook transfers from Hoi An to Danang Aiport weeks in advance as per usual. It was the perfect trip. We were all packed up and ready to check out when we got the email everyone dreads. Our Jetstar flight from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to Sydney had been cancelled!
With only two hours until our Klook airport transfer was due, I wasted no time. I contacted Jetstar and re-booked for two days later, via Melbourne. Our journey had gone from DAD-SGN-SYD to DAD-SGN-MEL-SYD and added almost eight hours to our travel time with the additional layover. Not ideal, but the wait for a direct flight to Sydney was over a week and Robin’s flight home from Sydney to Chicago in a few days ruled that out. We could have proceeded with our Klook airport transfer and flown from Danang to HCMC as planned, but we spent four days in HCMC at the start of the trip and decided to extend our time in Hoi An instead. I then contacted Vietjet to cancel and re-book our domestic flight. Thankfully they didn’t charge us a cent for the change. Winning!
Our Klook driver had messaged me a few days earlier through WhatsApp just to check in (see my pro-tip above) so I messaged him right away. I was able to change the transfer with no penalty despite being within the 24 hour window. Our hotel in Hoi An was also able to offer us an extra two nights stay. Flight cancellations are never great, but this turned into a blessing. We got to spend an extra two days in Hoi An, we were not out of pocket a cent after Jetstar covered the extra accommodation and provided meal allowance. Sure it was a bit of process getting reimbursed, but I chose to see the bright side. I got to spend and extra couple of days in one of my favourite cities with one of my favourite people. Who can complain about that!
